Position Summary
The M365 Specialist is responsible for administering, optimizing, and supporting the organization’s Microsoft 365 environment. This role ensures secure, efficient, and effective use of Microsoft cloud services—including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Power Platform, and related security/compliance tools. The ideal candidate blends technical expertise with strong communication and problem-solving skills to help drive modern workplace initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Administration & Support
- Manage, configure, and monitor M365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive.
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for M365-related incidents, service requests, and escalations.
- Maintain user accounts, licenses, and groups through Azure Active Directory and the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to email, collaboration tools, security policies, and device management.
Security & Compliance
- Implement and manage security features (MFA, Conditional Access, Defender for Office 365, DLP, message encryption).
- Support compliance initiatives using eDiscovery, retention policies, sensitivity labels, and audit logs.
- Monitor and respond to security alerts and ensure alignment with organizational policies.
Configuration & Optimization
- Develop and implement governance policies for Teams, SharePoint site structures, and OneDrive usage.
- Oversee migrations to/from M365, including email or file system migrations.
- Recommend and deploy new M365 capabilities to improve productivity and workflows.
- Maintain documentation for configurations, procedures, and best practices.
Collaboration & Training
- Partner with business units to understand collaboration needs and deliver solutions.
- Create and deliver user training, adoption materials, and knowledge-base content.
- Serve as an internal subject-matter expert for Microsoft 365 technologies.
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 services.
- Strong understanding of Azure Active Directory, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 security, compliance, and governance tools.
- Proficiency with PowerShell scripting for automation and administration tasks.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Intune/Endpoint Manager.
- Familiarity with Power Automate, Power Apps, and the broader Power Platform.
- Knowledge of hybrid identity environments (Azure AD Connect).
- Relevant certifications such as MS-900, MS-700, MS-720, MS-500, or AZ-104.
